The southern part of Hirado Island is a place where beautiful sea and deep history weave their tale. Since 1688, Edo era, Fukuda Shuzo have been brewing sake in front of Shijiki Bay, a circular bay overlooked by the sacred Mt. Shijiki. Ships sail by on the light blue sea, and the distinctive Mt. Shijiki’s silhouette emerges at dusk.

The founder,  Chojibeimon FUKUDA said, “Sake brewing is made with the heart and nurtured by the wind.”, Fukuda Sake Brewing began with Kurabito, feeling the sea breeze rushing down Mt. Shijiki.   The current 15th generation owner said that they are committed to brewing sake with continuous innovation based on the sake brewing knowledge and skills inherited from our previous owners.

Fukuda Sake is crafted with locally grown pesticide-free YamadaNishiki rice with local farmers in the southern part of Hirado, where it is nurtured by the sea of Hirado,

Fukuda sake carefully bottled the freshly pressed sake without causing stress as possible, Fukuda focuses to create a delicate, and  dynamic sake with a subtle foam spreading in the mouth like the small splash of light blue ocean. It is a sake that goes very well with fresh seafood of southern Hirado.
