Kyoto Fushimi – Tamano Hikari Sake Brewery Co., Ltd.
The history of Tamano Hikari traces back to its founder, Rokuzaemon Nakaya I, who established a sake brewing business in Yoriaimachi, Wakayama, under license from the Kishu Tokugawa clan. After the devastation of World War II, in 1953 (Showa 28), the 11th generation, Fukutoki Ujita, relocated the brewery to Fushimi, Kyoto, where it continues to thrive today.
The name Tamano Hikari is said to reflect the deep devotion of successive generations of Rokuzaemon to Hayatama Shrine in Kumano, Kishu. It embodies the meaning of “the divine spirit of Izanagi-no-Mikoto and Izanami-no-Mikoto shining brightly.”
TAMA X The Apothecary Diaries ANIME Collaboration in JAPAN!!
“Tama is a classic cat’s name in Japan, and Maomao from The Apothecary Diaries has ‘cat’ in her name—making this collaboration a purr-fect match!
TAMA Junmai Ginjo – Made with Wine Yeast & Bizen Omachi Rice
Crafted with wine yeast and the rare Bizen Omachi rice, TAMA offers a unique sake experience unlike traditional styles. With a gentle 12% alcohol content, it balances natural sweetness, refreshing acidity, and rich umami in perfect harmony.
Expect bright notes of citrus peel and kumquat, layered with soft fruitiness and a smooth, rounded mouthfeel. As it warms, subtle hints of lemon and rice emerge, adding depth and character. A sake that surprises, delights, and remains unmistakably Tamano Hikari.
