This is one of very popular sake in Daitengu Shuzo.

This Tokubetsu (special) Junmai honors the legend of the Tengu, a spirit known to bring good luck. Brewed by Saori Kobari, the 5th generation (and 1st female) brewmaster in the brewery's history.

This richer, umami-rich, food-friendly sake has aromas of banana, yogurt, and melon, and a smooth mouthfeel with enough acidity to pair with richer cuisine. Delicious served at room temperature, chilled, or warm (95ºF).

Pairs well with cheeseburgers, pasta carbonara, chicken tikka masalala. Serve chilled, room temperature, or warm. This sake makes a great presentation on a store shelf, behind a bar, or when giving as a gift.

What We Like About This Sake: We admire Daitengu’s multi-generational sake heritage, we really like the direction Saori-san is taking the brewery with all her sakes, and we like the fact that the sake in these bottles is honestly very good.

Oh, and the Tengu’s hat is also a serving cup.

A "Tengu" is a mythical creature from Japanese folklore, often depicted as a bird-like or human-like being with supernatural powers. Tengu are known for their red faces, long noses, and often carry a fan made of feathers. They are considered protectors sometimes revered as mountain spirits. In some stories, they are skilled martial artists and are believed to have the ability to influence humans.

Kobari Toji use Fune Shibori  to press sake.  Fune Shibori is a traditional method and mainly adopted for premium Sake. Moromi is placed into sake bags and laid in a rectangular box called “fune”
