Ikinokura Distillery is located on Iki Island (off the coast of Fukuoka) surrounded by fields of barley and rice, Iki Wagyu beef cattle and pure volcanic mineral water.
Iki Island, known as “The Dream Island,” is the spiritual home to Japan’s 400-year history of barley shochu production.
The distillery is committed to using locally grown ingredients and single pot-still distillation to create the authentic Iki Honkaku Mugi Shochu character. “Iki Honkaku Mugi Shochu” is a protected place name and can only be produced on Iki Island using the proprietary blend of 67% Iki grown barley and 33% rice as the base ingredient; the same prestigious status awarded to Champagne, Bordeaux and Scotch Whiskey.
